vogue heron – desktop background wallpaper

i have always enjoyed this image. coming back from point bonita light i noticed this female great blue heron standing on top of one of the cement structures. there were not many people around as it was a chilly, overcast day. i slowly worked my way towards her and while she was vigilant, did not scare and fly away. at one point she "struck this pose" – like a model at the end of a runway – i was lucky enough to grab this shot. shortly thereafter, a larger group came up from the lighthouse path and noticed her as well. she was spooked by the large group, noise, and rapid approach.
